Created in late 2008, ‘Machine is my heart’ is a new independent label for the original and reproduced artwork/design by b.calandra. b.calandra formally studied Design at COFA (College of Fine Arts, UNSW) and Art Direction at AFTRS (Australian Film, Television & Radio School) in Sydney, after which she worked for several years in film art departments, an animation house and an art store. This not fully satisfying her creative urge, she turned back to the purer practices of painting, drawing and mixed media In 2002. After moving into a Surry Hills warehouse (‘Hibernian House’), she began exhibiting in group shows with Knot Gallery and many other artist-run spaces in Sydney for the following 3 years. After spending most of 2005 living and exhibiting work in Berlin, she returned to Sydney in 2006 to prepare her first solo exhibition ‘Forgotten Toys & This could be fiction’ in the McK17 public art space in the centre of Sydney in 2007. Now relocated to France, b.calandra is happily running ‘Machine is my heart’, presently developing new visual artwork and an album with her band ‘Machine est mon coeur’. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ‘Machine is my heart’ est le label crée par b.calandra, pour promouvoir ses oeuvres et créations originales. Elle expose a Sydney et Berlin en 2006 et 2007, et crée une ligne de t-shirts, sacs..
